Welcome to Cosmic Ink, a blog series with bits of fuel for a stellar creative life.
Why do you write?
I think we writers write because it excites us, stirs us, it forces us to live on a more deeply feeling and thinking level.
Many people don’t have something like that in their lives. They are going through the motions, looking for something outside themselves to feel alive.
So even on our most hopeless day of writing, even if we never become a NY Times best seller, we generate meaning for ourselves.
We have the ability to create something new in the world, a chance to be uniquely us.
May the muse be with you!

Thank you for this! I’m actually just sort of coming around to this way of thinking after years of trying to make my work fit into places it really didn’t.
You’re so welcome, Brian. It’s hard to stay true to your own style and voice when it’s so tempting to shape your work to the latest trends. I’ve tried it too, and ended up destroying the integrity of my stories. It’s better to do your own thing and then find the right home for it. If there isn’t one, publish yourself! Thanks for stopping by 🙂
